Wrongful Termination
Wrongful Termination is another area of law in which we practice. Our #1 goal in our wrongful termination cases is to get our clients compensated adequately for their termination. Minnesota is a work at will state. This means that typically a person can quit or be fired for no reason at all. That does not mean that there aren't reasons that people can be wrongfully terminated. We mainly see three kinds of Wrongful Termination; Contractual, Discriminatory, and Whistle Blowers.
Contractual wrongful termination is when an employee and an employer have a employment contract and the employee is terminated before the contract has expired.
Discriminatory wrongful termination is when an employee is fired because of their race, ethnicity, age, gender, or sexual orientation.
Whistle Blower wrongful termination is when an employee informs the proper authority of illegal or unethical practices that an employer may be performing and that employer fires the employee for doing so. All states have whistle blower statutes that protect against this kind of termination.
If you have any questions concerning a wringful termination situation you may be involved in, please do not hesitate to contact us. All initial consultations are free.
